To the Brenner Family,

My name is Jaina Patterson. I am an adorable, albeit severely ill 12 year old, who reads Craigslist for fun. I thought today was going to be awful. My cane broke and my sciatica  was so much worse than it’s been since the operation. But when I read your ad looking for a child to adopt into your family, I smiled for the first time in weeks. I can’t even tell you how much I want to be a part of a family, any family other than mine. For example, tonight was dinner. I ate it really quick, so I didn’t have to spend lots of time around these freaks. At the end of dinner, my brother asked me what Hungary was, and just to show off how smart I am, I told him that it was a person from Asia. I know this because I come from Asia too. I hope you aren’t racist. This upset my stepmom, who told my father that she “wished the kids would shut the freak up.” Only she didn’t say freak. My brother, ok I’m his adopted step-half sister, so I don’t know what that makes him to me, talked back and it ended with her yelling at us to “Shut up, gosh darn it. Jiminy Cricket, you two think you know everything. Well you don’t.” Except she said cuss words. Maybe this gives you an idea of how you can help me, assuming you have room for my collection of beer bottles and my wheelchair. Help me clean up this mess…
